A native of Cullman, Alabama, she is a 1997 graduate of the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Kara received her CPA certificate in 1999. Kara began her career in 1997 with an international accounting firm as an audit staff. She was promoted to Audit Manager in 2002. In January 2005, Kara joined Lovoy, Summerville & Shelton, L.L.C. as an Audit Manager. During her career, Kara has been involved in assurance and advisory services for both public and non-public companies. Kara has served companies with domestic and international operations as well as not-for-profit organizations. Kara has managed a large portfolio of employee benefit plan engagements, including defined benefit, defined contribution and health and welfare plans. |
Kara is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants. She is an active member of the Junior League of Birmingham and The Service guild of Birmingham. Kara also serves as a Junior Achievement Champion Volunteer. |
